I don't golf, so with all of the rentals I have had in The Villages, I have just used the Guest ID card to use the pools, to get into Katie Belles, to attend Trivia Nights and Iowa Club meetings. Yesterday I went to a Walk Away The Pounds Class at Sterling Heights Rec Center. I showed my Guest ID card and my driver's license to the rec. center employee at the front desk. The rec. center employee asked me if was planning on attending the Walk Away The Pounds Class which was due to start in 15 minutes. I said yes. The rec center employee told me that normally I would not be admitted to the class until just before it started to give residents the first chance to attend the class in case it was crowded, but that she was going to let me in to the class early as she thought there would only be about 35 people in the class, and the class would not be full. So I attended the class and enjoyed it very much. I would estimate there were between 35 and 40 people in that class. I asked one of the regular attendees of this class, and she said that during snowbird season, there are usually about 60 or 70 people in this class.
My question is, the next time I rent in TV, am I better off paying for the $50 resident ID that landlords mention in their listings so that I would have easier access to classes? The next time I rent in TV I would like to take a few more classes like Walk Away the Pounds, and I would rather not get turned away if I only had a guest ID card instead of the $50 resident ID card. |

Op are you asking if its worth the $50..during off season our family has come down with only guest passes and have never had a problem attending classes due to lack of people if you do not play golf if may not be worth it...

Schaumburger: This time of year I would not think you would need to pay the 50.00. I have not rented----just wonder why a card cost so much? By the way, it is cold and rain in Springfield, Illinois today----enjoy The TV weather!

because that's what TV charges for the paperwork and cards

Also as a guest vs. resident a guest is not allowed in the Regional Rec center pools so if you would like to go to a water activity such as water zumba or water arobics you would not be allowed in under any circumstances...even if there was only one person in the class a guest cannot use the regional rec pools...the $50.00 fee is a one time fee for your length of stay so if you are staying for a long period of time I think it might be worth it.

No question that if you're renting during high season and plan to attend any activities in the rec centers you'd be wise to get the resident ID card. I've seen more than one person turned away or asked to leave an activity because the room was full and they were guests -- even after they had been admitted. Off season, it really depends on what you want to do. As was said, you do need resident ID to use the sports pools (so long as you're over 30).
Personally, I would pay the $50 rather than risk not being able to do something I enjoyed. It's not that high of a price for your stay (unless it is a truly short visit).

It was 86 degrees and sunny in TV today -- perfect weather. I checked the weather today in Chicago. It was 54 degrees today; normal temps in Chicago this time of year are in the low 70's. What is up with 54 degrees? I will need a parka when I fly back to Chicago tomorrow night.

guests passes are only good for thirty days and need to renewed. if u have a guest pass you can only attend classes, Katie belles etc if you are with the renter. So if you are the renter, you need a $50.00 pass..
Very cheap for what you get, even if u do not play golf! |

Do I need to be at the family pool with my adult children and grandchild? We are not planning to leave our 14 year old grandchild by herself at the pool, will be with her parents.
Will their guest pass be sufficient? |

If you are attending classes, pools, etc., where a Guest ID is sufficient, then you don't need a resident with you.

We always get the Resident pass...now my husband does golf so you can that is helpful. I had been dturned away from a class I wanted to attend...no beef with the system but just learned to get the Resident pass. Note....I was turned away from the class in October so it was before high the really busy season. Just our preference

This is what was in my rental agreement · Guest I.D. cards are the responsibility of the tenant. All cards must be revalidated every 30 days in person at Jane’s Outpost at Sumter Square at The Villages or else another $50 fee will be imposed. These I.D. cards can be taken with the tenant or discarded at the time of departure as they all expire. I was thinking I was getting temporary resident Id's but now I am thinking I need to clarify with my landlord. If it costs $50 then it is a temp resident Id I thought. Does a temp resident Id need to be renewed every 30 days?
