Default Barcelona Hotel Recommendation?

I have a friend doing a European cruise later this summer. Her itinerary includes several nights in Barcelona, Spain on the front and back end of the cruise.

She is interested in knowing of any decent hotels near the city center that others would recommend. She has looked online and places/prices range all over...from $30/night outside of town to $1,200/night. She was hoping to find something in the $75-$125/nt range that someone has actually stayed in and would recommend. No need for fancy amenities...just a base from which to explore the city.

So, anybody been there in recent years and have a recommendation on places for her to look into?

Many thanks

Check out these apartments: Booking.com : Casp 74 Apartments , Barcelona, Spain - 644 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

I have reserved a stay for October prior to a Transatlantic Cruise.

Also, have them go to booking.com which is a great free search web for hotels worldwide with many listings in Barcelona in various price ranges.

I like the site as well because the reviews are ONLY from people that booked through booking.com and actually stayed there. Not like trip advisor where anyone can post whether they stayed there or not.

Good luck.

I have stayed at the hotel Colon in Barri Gotic directly across from the Cathedral and it was a great location. Could walk to almost everything. Was reasonable, clean and great views.
