Smile Finding a Place to Volunteer

I am new to The Villages and would like to find a place or two to volunteer. (I love to help others and have put in literally tens of thousands of regular volunteer hours dating back to childhood.)

I have tried two local food bank/soup kitchens but one responded with a message stating that they were only taking names for "substitutes" - in case one of their regulars couldn't make it - and the other hasn't responded. In addition to all my volunteering hours, I also have 30+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector (holding the position of either Executive Director or Director of Development at various agencies over the years) and could put in some time at the administrative level as well as the "hands-on" part. Would be open to hearing about anything although a soup kitchen/food pantry would hold a place near and dear to my heart as I lent a hand at one during my high school years and truly felt that I was making a difference each and every time that I walked through the door.

Does anyone out there need a hand......or perhaps know an organization that does?

Here's a link to volunteer opportunities nearby. You can click on the links on the left to filter. Also, check the Daily Sun. They list lots of places needing volunteers.

VORRH, homeless vets with transitional housing in Eustis. We could work together to collect donated unwanted items in TV to take to their thrift store in my truck or network to locate large items for VORRH to pick up.

I know you didn't mention something like this but my wife volunteers at the Mark Twain Library behind the Paradise Center. They could always use help there and you don't have to be a retired librarian to do it. PM me if you might be interested in that.
