Thumbs up NEW = VillagesDating.com

FYI, recently I joined "VillagesDating.com". I just joined to see what it was all about - they had/have a little graphic advert on the left here.

I think this website and database are TOTALLY new cuz I did a search and found 0 results, or it wasn't working right. Seemed there were no men profiles. I removed my acct after an hour or so of playing, then got an email from the owner asking why I closed my acct. Frankly I would love to see a successful JUST US VILLAGERS dating website, but it seems silly to have an acct on a site which is empty, so if it grows, I WILL rejoin - if it IT IS still FREE (like POF).

I think the owners may change some of the questions or reduce the # of them at least (as per my feedback). I felt the profile was more like a taking a test, but that's just me. Maybe it is better to rate the values and importance of things more than we do on POF if we really want help finding our good matches.

So I will apologize now for my quick responses and add my reasons were that I am somewhat newly single (having been married most all my adult life) and newer to dating and surely to "dating sites" (tho not new to websites cuz I am a webmaster by profession).

So here in the Talk of the Villages "Singles" thread, I am going to recommend that those of us willing to "get out there" do consider joining the VillagesDating.com website and see if it will grow into something fun to be part of.

thanks karen! i could not open this post for most of the evening...glad to see it is fixed...by the way, you are much prettier than your photo!!! i get profiles to look at from Our Time although i am not a member....seem to be lots of guys from the Villages on that, but it is not free. i think our little get togethers are nice opportunities to meet without feeling like a bar fly i also met a very nice guy at a club i belong to (not a singles club) maybe if we just follow our own interests a good match will appear! am sort of tired of looking at men in undershirts taking their own photo in the bathroom mirror let's use a little imagination, gentlemen! (i don't know if the women's photos are as bad but i would doubt it) any rebuttal?

Hey Thanks, Cha3! twas nice meeting you! I have TRIED to change my profile photo on here and it keeps rejecting it. I will try again with my better photo.
Also, I learned that THIS website owners/admin do NOT own that new TV dating site. Hmm...
I agree that "house parties/get-togethers" are a nice way to get to know a few more people. I hope to be invited to a few more, and will host some myself - I sure hope people stay past 9pm tho - what was with THAT? Carol and I were ready to start charades or something else fun... Oh well, maybe next time.

That's a great idea! I never considered that I needed a specified ending time!

Default VillagesDating.com

We seem to be off topic again here. Glad tho that we might be able to have a "normal" party that has music or games and not just food. Next time.

But back to the VillagesDating.com new website - please add to this thread you take on having another dating site and this one being focused on just people in/near TheVillages.

Personally, I think it might be a good idea - there are lots of new dating sites lately, some just for farmers, etc. Why not one for people closeby. I know I only care to find those that live nearby when I'm on a dating site.

In the past I have participated in I think three dating sites for a max time of three months each and one for 10 days. My biggest dislike is I feel obligated to respond to all ladies that contact me even if it is only to say that I am flattered that you are responding to my post but I am in FL and you are in TX or I do not share your interest in going to church 3 nights a week. In other words, I end up communicating with members I would not have initiated contacted with in the first place because of the profile posted by that person. I consider it rude to respond to a person with a one liner, a person who took the time to communicate with me and who has a need to establish a relationship of some sort. Out of maybe 10 face to face contacts only one resulted in a friendship, a good friend nothing more.

Plan “B” I do what I enjoy doing and I hope to meet someone doing the same thing.

I agree with your plan B. You should do what you like. There will be someone who enjoys the same interests and activities and you can enjoy them together. And it doesn't necessarily be a romantic connection. Just someone you enjoy doing things with. That's what I enjoy about TV. That's my Plan B also.

I had a really good time at your party. I wouldn't get hung up with the time. I was there for 3 hours. If you started the party at 8pm, noone would think that people leaving at 11 would be unusual. Besides, i can only be pleasant for about 3 hours Only kidding!
