The N.J. police decided to arrest the boy in the article promptly. The Sanford police did not arrest Zimmy until protests broke out about why a white man had not been arrested for killing a black youth. Big difference.

I agree they are not the same kind of case.

HOWEVER, the difference is...and it is large....Zimmerman claimed self defense, and the police has no evidence...NONE... to invalidate his claim. They had no case and we saw at trial what happens when you arrest with no evidence.

Please read what the POLICE had to say about all of this. There was no evidence to arrest Zimmerman and they followed the LAW....THE LAW.

Folks just do not talk about what the police say in this case....it is just ignored....

I have never ever personally defended Zimmerman...I have never ever chastised either of the principles.

My objection and probem is with the political interference that has been involved in this case from the beginning and has muddied it totally. Let the police do their job.

I think that the problem was not a thorough investigation by the Sanford police. If the investigation had been started promptly, Gov. Scott would not have had to appoint a special prosecutor. The Sanford police were sweeping this under the rug without a prompt, thorough investigation. They very would might have concluded after a thorough investigation that there was sufficient grounds for arresting and charging Z with a crime.

Here is a line I have never typed before; I agree with both Bucco and Buggy! I have previously avoided the Zimmerman threads because a. I didn't know enough about the case and b. because it was a politically charged issue. The problem I had with the entire situation was that the right believed that the shooting was totally justifiable, and the left believed it was murder and neither side intellectually examined any evidence that might be contrary to their belief. I am sick of people lining up on issues because it lines up with their ideology, rather than looking at the issue reasonably and without prejudice.

Sorry if it looks like I am highjacking the thread, just wanted to make the point that this divisive and unyieldingly partisan way of looking at every issue is bringing this country down.

Zimmerman cannot be retried for murder and all of us should quit putting him on trial him again over and over.I continue to hear "if" a hundred times every day. Why Zimmerman was not arrested is simple, under Florida law he had the right to defend himself and in addition, he had not broken a single law. And all the analysing why he was found not guilty is also very simple, there wasn't a single human being other than Zimmerman who will ever know exacly what took place. Okay, so no witnesses leads to no evidence and we now find ourselves only having the word of Zimmerman. Z cannot be retried for murder but can be charged under a Federal civil rights law. He can also be sued in civil court by Martin's parents. His life will never be the same (and not for the better) anymore. Z is more hated than Casey Anthony - who also was found not guilty by jury.

I am not saying I agree with either option but, rest assured, one or both are coming!

No problem as all of the above has been interesting.........I welcome the response.

All I meant by posting that hyperlink was that white kids get shot every day all across the U.S......or in this case, stabbed, for no good reason.........but we all are not out marching, protesting, or otherwise bringing attention over and over again to Brian Topeleski's senseless murder.

When we were watching the Egyptians protesting in the streets last week, I thought "Don't they have jobs or families to tend to?" Little did I know that we would soon see gatherings like that in our country......over something that happens in every state every day. What about the black youth on black youth murders in Chicago and Detroit and elsewhere. I don't see them protesting that. I'm not racist. This is just how it appears to the average viewer.

Considering the heat in Florida and up here....in the 90's......there must be cooler ways to honor this young man who suddenly has become a saint.

WOW....I just checked the moon phases to determine if we are in a full moon or something.



Those who did not participate in the political forum may not understand but to have Coach, Buggy and I pretty much on the same wave length is certainly an event of major proportions..

I also, until the verdict stayed away (and frankly quietly seethed) at the political interference from the beginnings and then
watched post after post be simply a political message and completely unrelated to law and order (apologies to the TV series)

You are correct...so many, on everything that happens tune in or read what political position they are supposed to take and then ignore all facts that could make them waver.

I wonder how some can even decide anything without their favorite cable news network telling them how to feel. Everything is not political
