Default Golf Cart Parking Courtesy

Went to the show last night at Savannah Center, there was also an alzheimers group meeting there. Parking was limited and it was raining very hard. I passed (in my golf cart) three different spaces where someone parked their cart in the middle of the spot instead of leaving room for another cart. These were not specialty carts (i.e. street rods) just regular carts like mine. Please leave room for another cart in a parking space when you park your cart, just as a common courtesy in a golf cart community.

I have to 2nd your request. I've seen this quite a lot in other parking lots as well....even seeing "some" park in the parallel spots just like a car! Think that if folks are new they could figure it out just by observing others.

My 2 cents worth. When I first visited TV I didn't know one could park 2 to a space. My sister told me different. Maybe a note to that person would help them out.

Ignorance may be part of the problem but it seem a long stretch that all of these golf cart drivers haven't noticed that most people double up in a parking spot. So we are left with I forgot and took the whole space or I don't care and want the whole spac to myself first come first serve find your own

That seems like what they do. Or they park just far enough to the right of where they get out and don't leave enough space for the second cart. One day I managed to "squeeze" next to one of these at the mail stop and they complained that the could not get out because I was so close. I said that they should just back straight out and there would be no problem. But since then I leave about 6-8 inches. BTW: She could have backed out easily. I did so she could get out.

Yep, even in TV you find a few rude and selfish people. Some carts that are lengthy because of golf club attachment or customized and are "way out" in the street around Sumter Landing and you have to be very alert when driving your car to the square. It appears to be an accident waiting to happen.

'Courtesy' is the operative word here. One with which MANY people in TV are not familiar.

I realize that its likely a unwritten law in TV to double up on parking, But if someone chooses not to allow for 2 carts in 1 space is it a hang-able offense?

Why not petition the powers to be to have a portion of the parking spaces re- painted to GC dimensions. That way everyone can have their own space.

maybe because this is something that is not really broken so it really does not need to be fixed? and since the streets are public roads, striping for golf carts is probably not in any traffic ordinance.

the 'problem' is a rare one. newbies will catch on quickly. outsiders could be more likely not to care since they don't live here and they might never change.

rather a broad brush, eh? based on my experience, i find that most everyone has been courteous to me. but then, i don't always know who is a resident and who is not when we are all in the villages together.

I asked please, never mentioned "hanging" anyone. To njbchbum I think Harry Gilbert stated it very well, "Think that if folks are new they could figure it out, just by observing others." This would seem true for outsiders also.

My husband and I went through the Savannah Center last night and noticed how packed the parking lot was and we saw 3 golf cars parked in single spaces and said the same thing. It is one of the many great things abour the carts is they can double the capacity of a space if people just think about it. BTW what was going on there last night, I tried to find out but didn't have any luck. Thanks

a] i believe that was posted by notgolfer rather than harry gilbert
b] maybe they were outsiders - some care and some don't?
c] agree that new folks will figure it out sooner or later - but they will hafta care, too.
d] and just maybe the folks at the savannah center were renters who were afraid to get the cart scratched
e] or maybe the carts belonged to someone in the alzheimer's mtg and they forgot?

whatever - it was nice of you to say please.
