Unless you have a view lot with a short back wall, it shouldn't interfere with anyone's enjoyment. But in the summer I hear it gets really hot .. Wouldn't the dogs be better off inside with A/C and water bowls? And if they bark, they won't disturb your neighbors.

Per Deed Restrictions:

Outside Animals - No animals, livestock, or poultry of any kind shall be raised, bred, or kept on any lot or on the common areas.

My understanding concerning dogs or cats is that you must accompany them on a leash when outside - they cannot be tied out or kept in a crate or whatever. I know my head will be taken off because this is your property - however there are rules and unfortunately people just don't want to follow them or find ways around them. Check with your district concerning this.

Not much fun sitting in a crate either.

If your dog is going to be out there barking at every little noise and disturbs your neighbor I wouldn't do it...

I would really hate to have a next door neighbor with a couple of barking dogs on their lanai. The dog catcher would be notified quickly!

I don't know the answer to your question but since I live in a CYV, all I can say is, please don't do that. Your dog will be bored and bark, will hear noises and bark. Your dog will get really hot. Your dog will get rained on....not a good idea. We have a dog so I can't think of any reason I would kennel him outside unless I planned to leave him unattended. Your neighbors will appreciate your not doing that. Also please do not leave your pet unattended on your lanai. Sounds bounce around in these walls and your pet cannot see where the sound is coming from or what is making the sounds.

I see from Veronica's previous posts that she is considering moving to TV and buying a CYV because she has pugs. I think we've worried her by our discussions about possible predators.

Veronica, I'm sure you'll find that your dogs will be fine and safe in the walled courtyard of a CYV. I'm assuming you'll usually be in the yard or lanai when they're outside. No need to crate them.

The Villages is really a wonderful place to retire, lots of friendly dog lovers. Good luck with your decision.

I have a big long-haired cat that we rescued from the shelter 8 yrs ago. Puffy was declawed by her previous owner and always kept inside. She was 5 yrs old when we adopted her.

The wall in our CYV is too high for her to jump and she couldn't climb a tree but...
boy oh boy does she love laying out in the backyard. We have never had or have seen any predators (hawks, vultures, coyotes, etc) except the squirrels that like to play around with her.

Knock on wood (with a lot of prayer) nothing will ever happen to her. We aren't worried. So don't feel that you have to cage up your dogs in the backyard. Let them roam free.
