Default De La Vista

I play a lot of executive golf courses during the summer and enjoy playing the executive men days during the fall and winter season. My preference is my local nine hole course, Del la Vista. I played Del La Vista today and am so disappointed in the course condition. Without a doubt, it is the poorest condition of all the executive courses I have played this summer. With all the rain lately, why is this course in such horrible condition ???

The condition of a course can vary greatly from month to month depending on what needs to be done to keep it in great condition(aeration, top dressing, fertilization, etc.). As to rain...sometimes it can rain to much.

It seems by your post that you have no idea how difficult it is to maintain a golf course and that sometimes mother nature and the ground crew have no control over what happens. Give it time and it will come back and in the mean time play other courses.

My only problem with De La Vista is that the greens are always slow. It takes a heavier stroke to get the ball to the hole.

Sorry to tell you but I have a background of working on golf courses. You entirely missed my point. This summer I have played nearly every executive course in the Villages. Most of the courses are in excellent condition. De la Vista is and has been in an extremely poor condition for several years. My point was, considering the excellent condition of so many other executive courses why is this one (De la Vista) in such poor condition. I am talking about barren fairways etc. And there is no basis to believe that the ground crews have no control over what happens. A good maintainence crew will be proactive and prevent most problems before they happen.

I agree...The par 4's are the worst!...I've contacted the pro at Tierra but have noticed little or no difference in the condition...your second shot on both par 4's in the middle of the "fairway" are both "hard pan", absolutely no grass...

With the way I drive, the hard pan gets me an extra 40 yards!

The point is; the neighborhoods in the De La Vista region are , so to speak, getting the short end of the stick. Based on the other courses in the area, it would seem that there must be something that could be done to improve the De La Vista course.

you never mentioned having any experience with golf courses...just that you play a lot(they aren't the same). As for you knowing I propose that you do not by what you say and don't say. I've worked on courses for a number of years and if it's an older course the ground can become compacted so much that aeration won't do much good. In that case the ground might need aeration more often or replacement.

Since you don't mention what you did with courses in particular(until your second post you don't even mention it)it's hard to determine whether or not your problem with that course is just complaining or based on direct knowledge. Since you don't mention contacting the course super it can be surmised that even though you care you don't care enough to really check out what(if anything)is being done.

Until you truly know if there is a problem and it just isn't being addressed you need to complain to the correct people and not post online.

Good luck in any case. I hope you find answers and not just complaints.
