Default Big Brother-Villages Insurance access to Purchase Contract

Did you know that The Villages Insurance has online access to your purchase agreement? Today I was talking (by phone) to a rep about possibly getting insurance through them when the rep said "let me pull up your purchase agreement". I complained but the rep said they have to have it to know the home value. I feel the buyer should be asked to provide it, not allow them to have access through TV's system! Me thinks BIG BROTHER is getting a little too big for his britches!

Thanks for posting that. I'm glad I didn't go with Villages insurance.

Whether you bought from them or not, they still have access to all your transactions with TV.

Villages insurance is owned by The Developer and that...I think, is a good thing.

Exactly on the Devoloper. For those who here during the tornado of '07 remember the quick response to the damaged homes and quick cleanup.
As far as the purchase agreement, same info can be found in various public records so no big secret.

Your home purchase information from price you paid to Square Footage is publicly available. MOst if not all insurance companies confirm the statistical data on a home before insuring it. I dont think it has anything to do with one being own by the other. For Sumter County see

Exactly - don't think there's anything afoot here.

I don't really think it's a big deal. It's a complex and all details about said complex are somewhere on file.

Developer owns the bank, the mortgage co. and the insurance co., so what's the mystery?

I think the OP's concern was that his contract information was provided to Villages Insurance without his knowledge and before he even committed to do business with them. In the normal world a real estate contract is usually confidential information until closing. After the deed is recorded the information of price etc. becomes public record. But because the sales office, bank, insurance, etc are all one big conglomerate it only makes sense they share the information.

Allstate pulled up all of our records, and even 7 pages of building drawings/views. Said it was all public record in Florida.
