We have 3 boxes of L p's, good music, but no where to put them.
Before selling these records, we were wondering if someone had a recommendation to convert them to cd's. Who does this service? Where? I know brookstone sells a machine that supposedly does this, but obviously, we don't have the equipment.... Thanks in advance for any advise you might have! |

I don't know what your taste in music is, but chances are that you can get the same records that have already been re=mastered on CD's. I liked an old Ray Coniff album and it was already on CD, actually sounded better than the original.

I see your point but, it would be too costly, I think, to buy all those albums in cd's....

Amazon sells many USB turntables that can be used to digitize LPs. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Numark-TTUSB-Turntable-with-USB/dp/B000G3FNVM/ref=sr_1_15?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1378822471&s r=1-15&keywords=ion+usb+turntable]Amazon.com: Numark TTUSB Turntable with USB: Electronics[/ame]It is kind of a lengthy process if you want to remove all the clicks and pops, separate each track and enter the correct track labels, too. Obviously if you have 100 hours of music it will take 100 hours just to initially digitize them before any post-processing.

I have a USB turntable and have done this for many LPs.
Midvale is correct, it is a long process, but you can record a 33 at 78 and correct for this in the software to save some time. There is no way I would open a business to do this for others. |

Costco used to sell a turntable which converted LPs to CDs...that is probably the best investment. Why not just play them as LPs like we did in the old days...in fact you could have a party and I will help DJ it playing the LPs.....

Do your self a favor, the way technology is changing, don't put your music on CD's, even DVD's, that is old technology now, put all your music on flash drives, i use about 8 of them, and the neat thing now with car radio's, they have a USB port, so i play my music there. I know the guy at the Marlet of Marion converts film to Cd's, ask him he might have the equipment to take the records, and put them on flash.

Buy a large external hard drive for the project.

The Audacity (free download) software I use converts the LP to an MP3 on the hard drive.
From there you can put the MP3 file on a CD, thumb drive, or, as I do, an iPhone, iPad or iPod (or any other smartphone) |
