Smile Daily Sun Gets It Wrong Again

In Thursday's Daily Sun the is an article regarding recreation centers at the Tierra Del Sol and El Santiago neighborhoods. The article was writen by staff writher Livi Stanford and I am wondering is Stanford was even at the sane AAC meeting I attended. My wife was out with "the girls" last evening and the talk was centered around the Tierra restaurant closing and the facility being for sale. I was at that AAC meeting and this IS NOT was was conveyed to everyone except perhaps the reporter. El Santiago, the closed restaurant has been purchased by the AAC. It seems that a majority of the area residents want a restaurant. The AAC has no interest in operating a restaurant.. A possible comprise was offered, continue with the proposed rec center, BUT possibly have a small set aside concession area operated by a fraternal club or even private individual. The thinking was hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks and beer. Whomever operated the concession would pay rent back to the rec center and furnish the necessary equipment.

Now to TDS. There is a basic plan to expand the small rec building. There is a general acceptance of these plans by the residents in the TDS area. There was information that a rumor has surfaced that the TDS restaurant is closing. Not true said Ms Tutt, the restaurant owner has a desire to simply downsize the restaurant. at the last meeting the AAC board directed Janet Tutt to check with the developer if the TDS building might be for sale. At Thursday's meeting, Ms Tutt had not heard back from the Developer with a decision. it was her understanding that if the AAC did purchase the building, that there would have to be provisions for the restaurant to have needed space as well as the golf shop. There seemed to be concerns of a rec center that would have within its parameters a restaurant and golf shop even if there would be rent income. A decision was made to proceed with the scoping for the small existing rec building. The TDS restaurant and golf shop possibility was tabled until the next meeting which will give Ms. Tutt additional time to get an answer from the developer regarding any possible sale.
