Has anyone had insulation installed in their gas golf cart to cut down on the noise? Did it make a difference? Can you buy the insulation and do it yourself? Is there a place who does this?

I did it to my UTV which is an all terrain vehicle and it quieted it down significantly, I did it myself with 1/4" sound insulation for automobiles, but I hear that some manufactures have pre-cut kits available ..I am too frugile to go that route cost me about 12.00$ in material and 2 hrs of time

ps the other thing I did was modify my exhaust tail pipe so it didnt dirct the exhaust directley towards to ground causing an awful echo / noise in drivers compartment I dont know how much of a modification can be done to your cart but from a noise perspective wqe went from wearing ear plugs to being able to converse with a 3 y/o in normal voice, so... in short any insulation will help quit down the drivers compartment

I had All About Carts insulate mine gas cart last month and it did really reduce the noise. I need to get my tail pipe extension replaced that The Villages Golf Carts put on three years ago because it broke off. I do need a new one because that makes a difference in the noise too.

I have a Club Car with a flat seat board. It was easy to glue (liquid nails) 2" styrofoam insulation board to the underside of the board and to fasten a few pieces to the sides of the engine compartment. The difference in sound is very significant.
DIY insulation kits, with peel and stick panels are available on the internet. They are expensive. I would guess installation around here would be a bit pricey too, certainly in comparison to my solution. |

I had my cart insulated under the seat and around the inside of the enclosure for the motor. Jiffy Muffler in Wildwood installed it. They used the same insulation as are used in motor homes and RV's
It did cut the noise a little, but IMO not enough to justify the cost. |

Does the insulation restrict airflow? If so is that create an overheating problem for the motor?

The insulation (on my cart) was attached to the seat bottom and around the enclosure for the motor. It does not restrict air flow.
