Default Activities for Elderly Parent Living with Us

We have recently moved to Pinellas and my 88 year old mother is living with us. I would like to find some "age appropriate" activities for her so that she can meet people her age. She is no longer that physically active but would love to be able to get together with others to socialize. I would also be interested in activities that she and I join together.
Thanks for any information.

My mother in law is 89 and still is excellent at playing cards. Also, have you thought about bunco? Easy game. When my mother in law is here we take her to the Sonrise Cafe in Southern Trace shopping center. The food is down to earth not fancy food which is what she likes and sometimes they have entertainment that used to start at 5:00. You do have to get there early for a table.

Default Prime Time

The New Covenant United Methodist Church offers "Prime Time" on the second Thursday of each month from 10:00-12:30. You may call the church at (352) 750-4529 for more information. My 88 year old mother-in-law attends when she is here and always seems to enjoy it.

I remember reading about a club called four score and more...made up of all 80+ year olds. You might look in to that.

I have a 90 year old friend who is part of our Friday golf group. She beats us regularly.

You get younger each day you live here.

I have had to start on birth control again.

angie - the recreation insert to the daily sun should be able to identify activities/clubs that you and your mother will enjoy; you can also find it on-line here:
In The Villages, The Villages Florida, Villages Life, News, Entertainment, Weather, Sports, Travel, Local, US & World News, The Villages Magazine, WVLG 640 AM - thevillagesdailysun.com

another website VIRGINIA TRACE, THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA is chock full of villages information and features some of the clubs that have their own website!

hope this helps!
