Ein prosit. Which means something like "May it do you good".

And from an Irish Uncle

.A toast to your coffin.
May it be made of 100 year-old oak,
And may we plant the tree together, tomorrow.

She uses it when we all have a new grandbaby.....and so on and so forth.

I had another good friend and neighbor who has since moved away to Saratoga Springs.......ditto, she used Mazel Tov all the time. They would invite us for Hannukkah/Chanukah parties and she'd make her mini potato pancakes.......yum.
Yes, Mazel Tov means good luck in Yiddish. When toasting, we usually say L'Chaim which means "to life".

"Here's to those who wish us well.
And those that don't, can go to Hell!"

Don't shoot the messenger, blame my Uncle.

My uncle use to say "May I be in heaven before the devil knows I'm dead."
I guess he thought he should go the other way.

My husband had friends who went to Aquinas High school in Columbus, Ohio and I can't even type their toasts. Wow. Nice Catholic boys, too.

bless the meat and bless the skin
back your ears and cram it it.
