According to Florida's Turnpike - The Less Stressway™ | Traveler Information | Paying Tolls the only place where you need Sunpass and are unable to use cash is in the Miami/Dade area which is south of Disney. You will still be able to pay cash along the way to Disney. I went to the airport in Orlando recently and there were toll booths to pay cash. If you need to go to Miami/Dade area via the turnpike you would need the Sunpass.

We utilize the little sticker sunpass thingy mainly for our trips to the airport and other destinations. To me they are well worth the money. I don't like to have to stop and dole our cash and then start out again. To me it's a big inconvienance not to use sunpass. It's one less distraction to buzz down the interstate as they were designed.

The convenience of having a sun pass far, far outweighs the $25 fee to buy one.
The time saved alone is worth the price. And if you only use it occasionally it does not cost anything to use it just once in a while. It is a no decision decision to me. We bought one that has suction cups and can be moved from one vehicle to another. btk |

The decal type of Sunpass cost $4.99 and has $5 of tolls built into it. If you have one car, this is the best. Keep money on it automatically by linking it to a bank account. When you get rid of the car, scrape it off the window and it becomes void. You are mailed the amount left on the pass.
Portable transponder is perfect when you have more than one car. |

We also still have our removable transponders for Easy Pass for travel up north and and other places. Leave it in the house or in the foil bag.

Great,,, the more of you who buy the Sunpass, the fewer I have in the Cash only line... I haven't experienced any toll booths that had Sunpass only.. there may be some, but I go to Orlando regularly and have been to Miami and didn't need one there either.

There's another benefit to the Sunpass and having the credit card automatically feeding it prepaid amounts thru the website. I once used a new car to go to the airport and forgot I didn't have Sunpass in it yet. I drove thru the first two sunpass lane toll booths without paying. As always, the system photographs the license plate and mails the car owner a bill for the toll with the fine later.
Well, later on when I went onto the website to update the info on the car and license plate, I saw that I could pay the skipped tolls with fines there, using the credit card we keep on file to feed the prepaid amounts to the Sunpass. Better yet, using the credit card on file meant that the two tolls due with fines were only $0.77 each, instead of the $7+ with fine on each that came in the mail. So the fine was waived by paying it that way instead of mailing them a check. Nice! |

There are some exit in Orlando that are Sunpass only... If I'm not mistaken, Consulate Drive is one of them.
There is really no economic reason to not have a Sunpass... |

There is at least one exit near Disney from the Turnpike that is Sunpass only, Consulate Drive southbound only at mile 255. Don't think you would typically use this for Disney. Other Sunpass only exits are 240, 138, 107, and 98

You can always go on 27 then 192 to Disney, no tolls and about 15-20 minutes longer.

I am coming to TV for only a week in December and will be renting a car, I will travel from the airport to TV, then to Disney World and also to Merritt Island to visit my brother. I do not own my own car right now, however the rental company charges $8 a day for the transponder, which I hate to pay for. Do you all think I can get away without it for that week?
