Default Night Golf is for the Birds

We played night golf for the first time. As far as we are concerned we've done that and move on. Somehow I thought night golf was like night baseball or night tennis with lights all around. Wrong. Yes, you see a glowing ball so you try to hit that to a pin glowing faintly in the distance. You duff the ball because you lose the feel of distance to the ball. You have no idea whether there is a trap in front of the green or water hazard on the side. You just aim for the dim light and if some one before us do not properly leave the lit pin towards the tee you are dead. Putting is completely another matter. Yes, if the ball flies towards the green, it is beautiful but.... There was one occasion when one of the foursome practically fell into a bunker because all around was so dark. Good thing one of the foursome brought a flashlight.

Played that last year and stepped in a pile of fire ants. I'm not a fan of it either.

We played a few years ago and even though I enjoyed the evening, I don't need to play night golf again.....ever...

We we told to stay away from the water, just incase some rather large reptile be disturbed. Took a while to adjust to the darkness, but we did and all in our group had a good time.

If you play, remember to bring a flashlight to guide your walk to the greens....it's easy to trip. If you have any vision difficulties, night golf might not be a wise idea. If you do and can play, have fun!

Even thou I'm new to golf I still plan to give night golf a try at some point. As of now I don't think it could be any worse than my day time game so what the heck.

DonH57. Mind you, if you lose the lighted ball, you are out of the game. You only get one lighted ball. However, if you get into high roughs, you can still see the ball.

Some take it too seriously. It's suppose to just be a fun outing. It is what it is.

I find it surprising that people are surprised that they were surprised at being disenchanted when playing night golf?

I love night golf. The group I played with allowed as many lost balls as you could replace. No one fell in a trap or into a lake. Everyone was asked to be sure the glow markers on the pins were properly replaced, and they were. We played best ball scramble and by the fourth person putting you had a very good idea about the breaks on the green, not that it helped my putting.

It is a little different, but fun!

We played the course one evening and maybe because we are duffers we did better at night than on the same course in the day the following week.. However we aren't inclined to have another go at night. It was a interesting experience but not really a golf game and it could be challenging for anyone with vision challenges or balance issues. But then they might not be interested anyway. But for us, particularly my DH, once was enough.

I know a guy that played night golf. He and another guy hit their ball and they landed on the green and went over a small hill on the green and out of site. When they got to the green one ball was a few feet from the hole the other one was in the hole. They did not know which one made the hole in one.
