Default passwords

Just a note a caution to those thinking of moving here. I stupidly always set my computer to remember my passwords, like the one to get into this website, and others like Ancestry. When we moved into the Villages my computer "forgot" all of my preset passwords once we installed Comcast. Luckily I have a paper trail of passwords in a recipe box I can access. However I am sharing so no one else depends on their technology.

As much as I dislike Comcast, your problem has nothing to do with Comcast. Your passwords were saved in your browser. When you changed to Comcast, if you installed a new Comcast browser, those were wiped out of the cache. This is something you also can do on your own whenever you choose, so it is not really an anomoly. The only password that your computer "saves" is the one that you use to start the computer and/or windows. All others are temporarily "saved" by the browser. If you use more than one browser from time to time, you will need to enter your access passwords for websites into each browser separately.

Passwords are a problem because many of us have so many of them. In our case, it happen over time with little thought or organization. Now various entities require certain "type" of passwords and "security questions" etc. etc.

It's sort of like our photos----some "rainy day" we are going to get better organized. For most of us----won't happen!

That is why I use KeePass - a free program that you store your userids and passwords in a encrypted file.
