Default What's in canned Cranberry Sauce besides Cranberries?

I searched it and found this: One serving of Ocean Spray is a 1/4 cup and contains 21 grams of sugar. I think the sugar comes from corn syrup.

21 grams is just short of 6 teaspoons.

Cranberries without some sort of sweeteners, are pretty tart.

Why don't you look at the ingredient list on a can?

I eat two slices of the jellied cranberry sauce once a year so who cares what is in it. I figure the wine will break it down for me.

LOL!!!

Why don't people on righteous eating diets realize that by depriving themselves of foods that please the brain, like some fats, some sugars or SOME chocolate, they are in a chronic BAD MOOD? Everyone around them sees the bad mood and pulls away.

Canned cranberry is a thanksgiving staple...lol. can't do without it on my after thanksgiving sandwich. Must be the 21 grams of sugar that holds the jelly type mold together.

Wrap it up with the fruitcake that gets passed around each year.

I have an amazing cranberry relish recipe I'd be happy to share. You can use granulated sugar or Splenda. If anyone's interested let me know. I have ours cooking and the whole house smells great!

My wife makes a great sugar-free cranberry sauce but I like the jellied version which she cannot make. Any recipes for a jellied cranberry sauce from scratch?

Yes, you can say that again! Several years ago I bought a bag of cranberries to try my luck at cooking them. I cooked the whole bag and didn't add any sugar. It was tart but I didn't mind the tartness, I thought it had an interesting taste. Although, it's not something you can eat a lot of; I decided I would just eat a teaspoon or tablespoon of it before breakfast.

After a few days of doing this, I noticed it was getting more and more difficult to empty my bladder. There was no doubt in my mind what was causing this so I disposed of the remaining portion of cranberry sauce.

I've heard that cranberry juice is recommended to women who get bladder infections. That may be true but it doesn't necessarily mean that cranberries are good for men. Or maybe it's just me. After I discontinued eating the tart cranberries, bladder emptying went back to normal.
