Download a gps map program to your smartphone if you can't update your car's gps.

I bought a new Garmin last spring but took it back as it did not have any of the new area.
What model do you have? |

The model doesn't matter. They set in a warehouse or store and get out of date. They must be upgraded especially around here with everything constantly changing. Best bet is to by a Garmin with lifetime updates.

Does that cost each time you upgrade, or do you have a plan that keeps upgrading for free?

With a smartphone, Google Maps is an excellent choice - they update it constantly, and accurately, in my experience. With a phone stand, it makes an excellent GPS. I recently bought a Garmin with the lifetime updates, but only because the missus still has (and likes) an older flip phone that doesn't have Maps capability.

Also remember the developer builds streets faster that the mapping service, NAVTEQ, can record them so there will always be a lag. VG ps: If I could figure out how to take a screen shot from the GPS and then upload it to TOTV that would give you some idea as to the new area covered. |

Was there a charge for the update with your Hyundai when you went to the dealership?

The dealer wanted about $350 to upgrade - told him that was too much and I would pass. A week later I received a coupon for a free upgrade from Hyundai and a box of chocolates - no kidding. Great company to deal with.

If you have a Garmin with lifetime updates, the updates are free. I now have all of the area below 466A.

I use my IPhone for everything GPs. I use free caddy an app from the I tunes store that's free. It gives all the courses here. It will give you a distance to the middle ,front, and back of the green. Just put in our zip code and download the course. I used it last week on mangrove and it worked fine. As for the road it comes with Maps. I used that all the time. It gets me back and forth from south to north.

Yes"........we went to Best Buy and bought a Garmin that has the area in question includes free updates. Speak to the sales person and he'll direct to the correct model of Garmin. We are very satisfied with our choice.
