Internet Explorer 11 (64 bit) is available in this month's Microsoft update bundle.
Does anybody know of a good reason NOT to upgrade? Thanks |

The problem is that we never know functions that have worked perfectly good for years have changed. It does not take much for the MicroSoft programmers to make a change to a menu or function that worked perfectly well because they either do not use it or think that it needs to be moved or upgraded when it should have been left alone.
I will eventually install it but I have to make sure I can easily get back to IE10 if I do not like it. Z

I don't have any first hand info on this particular product. I will ask someone at TV Computer Club before installing.
Having worked as a MS professional, Microsoft has a habit of rushing products to the market, without having the kinks worked out. I would be careful, before automatically jumping on IE 11.

A known problem with IE 11 that I have is that it does not like Google. If forces all the searches into a long narrow column on the left edge of the page.
There is supposed to be a settings fix in IE, but it does not seem to hold when I close and reopen IE. |

Sometimes websites don't look like you expect them to–images might not appear, menus might be out of place, and text could be jumbled together. This might be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on. Sometimes this can be fixed by adding the site to your Compatibility View list.
To add a site to the Compatibility View list Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar. Tap or click the Tools button Tools, and then tap or click Compatibility View settings. Under Add this website, enter the URL (address) of the site you want to add to the list, and then tap or click Add. ----- If you add a site to the Compatibility View list and the page looks worse, the problem might not be compatibility and you should remove the site from the list. Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing it from your compatibility list. NOTE: Now in order for the command menu (containing the tool sub-menu) to show up, you need to right click IE anywhere on the top bar and click command so the menu will show. Then, click tools and look for Compatibility Mode Settings, then you can manually enter the site that is not working correctly and it should fix the problems for the sites that broke with this release.

I stopped using IE seven or eight years ago. I started using Firefox. Multiple reasons.
There are two very popular Firefox add-ins that I use, one for added security and the other for privacy (block those pesky ad tracking beacons). |

From someone that isn't experienced in computers, I do online banking with my bank in the North. Sign in page now has a warning that if using IE11 may have problems accessing their site, and recommends using another browser, Firefox, Mozilla. Also has a link to change or modify IE 11 in someway.
