I was wondering if it is better to not be on this site, when I am tired and prone to post something, that is less than flattering.
I am aware that a couple of my post in the last month or so have rubbed some people the wrong way, and I apologize. Has anyone had this experience?

Yes my dear Joe. A LOT. But if we don't make waves sometimes, we aren't swimming at all. Anyone that knows you also knows that you are a kind, fair, sensitive, caring person. There is NOT a mean bone in your body. But that is true of lots on this forum and they/we, all rub people the wrong way at times. We cannot, should not agree with everything or everyone. We HAVE to be ourselves...such as we are. There are some on this forum who would argue about mom, apple pie, the good ole' USA and Chevrolet. Keep posting 2BNTV. Don't let anyone get you down. If they knew you, they would "get" you. Hugs and love, Gracie.

I fully agree. After spending 2 days doing some drywall repairs and painting the hallway, stairs and kitchen I was full of aches and pains and pretty tired.
So I took a posting holiday yesterday from TOTV. When I am distracted by something be it physical discomfort, tiredness or just plain old boredom, it often is reflected in the tone of my posts. If you are just not in the moment, best keep your index finger off the "post reply" button as you never know who you may offend.

Gracie, I am relatively new on here and just moved to TV 2 months ago. I have to say, you are the nicest, kindest, compassionate person. Anytime you respond to a post, it is always with kindness. I hope my posts will always emulate your style.

I have a simple system -- I type whatever I want regardless of my mood. Then, if I'm not up to par for whatever reason, it sits there for at least an hour. I'll re-read what I said and if it still feels right to me (even if not so nice), I'll post it (usually after a bit of editing). Kind of like the letter written in anger -- write it but don't mail it.

Isn't this topic covered to the nth degree on the two threads started by Bufflo Jim?

![]() Writing reflects your inner most thoughts reflecting the true you. Most of us do some reflection before pushing that submit button but is it always necessary? The key here in my view is the philosophy of the receiver. I personally like to see posts from people who won't hold back. I lived in a state where I found people to be polite but less than honest. It was the cousin of political correctness both stifling communication and hence understanding and finally agreement or at least compromise on the issue at hand. I make this point because today's young people actually believe that name calling is their argument. "Your a (-----------) end of argument. One can be polite but direct and in fact, I believe a responsibility carried by all who desire communication. Some people take umbrage at others honesty or dishonesty name calling acute differences in religious or political views but I personally relish it because it creates some very interesting conversations I say this with some caveats you have to be careful taught to control your emotions. You have to be tough skinned. You have to be open to new ideas and the fact that you may just be wrong. You have to understand that other people think differently than do you. My childhood rearing demanded we discuss religion and politics and that we remain cerebral and support our positions. and yes some debates got very heated but we all understood at the end of debate we would join in celebration. But what this did was to make us less rigid about our thinking as be gospel. Think back over the years and haven't your views changed on some issues? I still have my core values but I have been enlightened on so many issues that thinking back I laugh at myself for the backward thinking in my earlier years......and here I am referencing last week ![]() |
