I received a door knocker from Sun Kool A/C company that said they installed a Supco brand surge protector on my A/C unit. The door knocker states that Sunkool has identified some issues with this unit and they say this is not a recall of the product. I'm supposed to call them as soon as possible to discuss further action.

Does anyone know what this is all about?

One of my golf partners got a call from his wife on Friday that a man from that company showed up to install a part on their A/C unit. They didn't contact the company before this. He thought it sounded like a strange sales tactic and told his wife to refuse the installation.

I would think that you'd know if you had them install one for you. Do you indeed have a surge protector?
