Cool Be Careful Out There

In our neighborhood we have had three very serious accidents within the past year. Three ladies have incurred serious injuries falling from ladders. The first was a small step type stool in the kitchen, double break in an ankle, therapy for over a year. The second, a lady changing the entry light bulb, ladder twisted and she fell, double break in one ankle and broken bones in foot of other limb, therapy very long and on going. The third last week, lady fell from third step of garage ladder, double compound break in one leg and facial injuries. As we grow older it becomes that muc h more important that we take more caution and maybe rething the ladder thing. So be careful out there as you take down those Christmas decorations from the garage attic.

Couldn't agree more. As someone who fractured my elbow by falling when tap dancing, I know we are more fragile these days!

A man in our neighborhood fell in his garage from an attic ladder and died. It was during the Christmas season. So tragic. Echo the "be careful" admonitions.

When my DH goes on a ladder I always spot him.

Hope all these ladies a speedy recovery!

At some point though we hate to never be afraid to ask for help. My husband and I are much younger and a bit healthier than many around us and we always ask to help out or offer our help. I know for some money may be tight but also better of you need to hire someone to do it for you! What price are you willing to pay for independence? Your health or even worse your life? Be safe and responsible everyone! We are all in or may be in that situation one day.

accidents and doing dumb things are not the aged exclusive.....we are just let's say more vulnerable....the pld cat like reflexes are gone or going, balance is not what it used to be and the ever presentwill to do what we have always done!!

I don't think about the age number the calendar states I am, but my body reminds me once in a while and the haunting old fart in the mirror every morning just won't go away!
