Default Beginners Pickleball - really beginners

My husband and I are interested in Pickleball but have not tried it yet. Is there somewhere in The Villages where you can get lessons on playing pickleball?

Stop in any of the rec centers...they have listings for pickleball classes...sign up for pickleball 101.
They have loaner paddles...all that's recommended for your class is court shoes.
Enjoy!...you'll learn a lot and will meet some great folks!

I took Pickleball 101 about six weeks ago at Sterling Hgts Rec Center. They have it there every Wednesday morning at 10am, but you need to call and reserve your spot because they limit the class size. It is also taught at other rec centers on different days.

Before I went to class I went on the website youtube.com and searched pickleball and watched videos for a couple of hours. That was a big help in understanding the scoring system and the rules. In class they cover everything in about two hours so by watching the videos you can absorb what they are teaching a lot quicker.

Every Tue and Wed at Colony rec center they have noon to 1:50 reserved for beginner players. We've been going every week for about a month and gradually we've been improving. They have beginner time slots everyday at various rec centers so beginners can play against other beginners. Once you've mastered some of the basics Pickleball 102 and 103 classes are available if you desire further instruction.

Here's a website that is an all-in-one pickleball site. Pickleball Strategy Guide

Here is The Villages pickleball website that will answer all your questions and give times and dates for everything I've mentioned. Villager Pickleball Ratings
