What have you used to keep your lanai warm? What has worked and what hasn't? Heaters, fireplace, etc?

We have a patio villa, with an enclosed lanai that's on the shaded side of the street. When it's cold out, we close the door to the house and turn on our Vornado and in about 15 minutes it is comfortably warm in there.

We enclosed our lanai with glass doors. We also installed a Mitsubishi Split system that heats and cools the lanai as needed. We are out in the lanai everyday. It is our favorite room in the house.

I have one of those portable heaters that look like a fireplace and windows all around.

Just curious as to whom you used to enclose your lanai.

The best thing I did in my house was enclose the lanai. It is my favorite room in my house. I have a fireplace for those cool days/nites and air con unit for those hot days.
I had Brian Freitag do the work. He used to work for TV and his standards are very high. He does quality work and he's a great guy. His phone number is (352) 516-0668. I would highly recommend enclosing your lanai. You can still enjoy the fresh air on those lovely days....and when it's not so nice, you can still enjoy it. AND it is much much cleaner out in the lanai. I used to spend so much time cleaning that room. Since it's been enclosed, it's been a piece of cake to clean.

T&D screen and porch enclosures did our lanai. They did a great job. They level the cement floor so it's the same level as the house. They can install electrical outlets on the back of the lanai within code as the electrical wires are installed underneath the new concrete floor. They also set the doors in a cement offset edge so they don't rely just on caulking. They also installed exterior electric lights over the lanai door, and in my case, a light over the barbecue grill on an extended cement pad. As you can tell, I like the job they did for me!

Unless it is enclosed can't imagine how it could be used on cold days. I am currently sitting on my enclosed lanai using a small ceramic heater to keep it comfortable. Have the heat in the house set at 72 so it hasn't come on to heat the lanai (have 2 vents that feed off the main system for heat and air).
The added bonus is in the heat of the summer you can also enjoy if you have a/c and watch those fabulous rain storms in the summer while staying completely dry. I would give up most of the other rooms in the house for my enclosed lanai! |
