Default Microsoft Support for Windows XP Coming to an End

Are you a Microsoft XP user? If so an article at Windows Secrets might interest you, and it starts off by stating... "All good things must come to an end; in less than four months, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows XP." To read the entire article go to the following address:

Securing XP PCs after Microsoft drops support | Series | Windows Secrets

In all fairness to Microsoft, XP was 3 operating systems ago.

But it still works great for us.

Who was being unfair to Microsoft and what was stated that gave you that impression? Did I miss something?

I have no doubts that XP still works great. Worked great for me too up until I upgraded with the purchase of a new computer with a new OS. I do have to ask though if you read the article? It's not about current performance as far as I could tell, but rather about future issues like peripheral support (i.e. driver updates or new peripherals), reduced security and software support or compatibility and more.

I love it when you use big words I don't understand.

My Grandson just installed a new desk top computer for us in Illinois. It's okay but It gets harder and harder to teach an "old dog" new tricks. Frankly, I use our I-pad most of the time. It's really easy to use.

Unless you are doing a lot of research or writing "papers" and such, a notebook or I-pad is really all you need.

Gracie, those "big words" are also known as 50¢ words. Hope you can handle it when it becomes necessary for me to use my 75¢ words on ya!

The only thing that I would be worried about is the security issues cause by not getting patches for the security problems that MS finds. As far as the rest, unless you want to put new programs or peripherals on your XP machine you should be fine. And you would probably still be fine if you put a new printer on it anyway.

To go from an XP OS to W7 or W8 would probably require an upgrade to the PC anyway.

I will keep my one XP machine until it dies. I network the printer off of my W7 machine anyway.
