Default Closing on 1/9/14-many questions

Hello my new neighbors,

We are closing on our new house on Jan 9th and need help on the following:
Where can we buy furniture that is reasonable?
Who do you recommend for hanging curtain rods for lanai doors and all windows?
Installation of ceiling fans (in lanai also)?
Interior house painters - any recommendations?
Outside landscaping in front of house - stones
House watch service
Internet/phone/cable package
Flooring in dining area(wood)
Any help members can give us with be great appreciated, looking forward to everyone's advise. Glad to be a part of a wonderful community!

I would search the forms for each question.

1. Furniture is American Freight in Ocala on 17th St. Reasonable prices and very good quality for decorating, on the cheap. It's brand new and "Made In America", (85% of what they sell). I believe in North Carolina.
2. Curtain rods and ceiling fans - I would used handyman Don Cunningham.
Charges $40/hour, but works fast and is very reasonable.
3. Interior painting can be done by Omar. He ads, can be found in the Daily Sun classified section. I haven't used him, as I will need to check out another recommendation from my next door neighbors. Another person on TOTV has thought highly of Omar's painting.
4. If you south of 466, "Deans Landscaping". I haven't used him as I am north of 466, but a person who I trust, uses him. I respect his input and recommendations.
5. South of 466, Brighthouse is one option and Comcast is the other. If you are into sports, Directv is the best option. Internet and phone, can be Comcast or CenturyLink. You will have to decide based on which service may be faster and suited for your particular computer use. If you load heavy files and want to stream video, I would go with Comcast.
6. Flooring - No clue.

I am not home, so I can't provide any phone numbers but I would suggest you look under, "Contractors and Vendors", Services. You will want to see what other's have to say about all vendors they have used.

I hope this helps!

I would NOT recommend the villages home management house watching service. I used them for 3.5 months, and had major problems. There are several local services that I have seen as being highly recommended. When we need these types of service in the future, that is what I will be doing.

We highly recommend Omar's painting, East Coast Flooring, and Villager's Homewatch (not run by The Villages, but privately owned by Villagers).
Very good experiences with all.

Hey Mort and Stella

Welcome to TOTV and The Villages. You must be so excited.

Since you're new, you might not know about the Search function on the bar above. Just hit search, and enter the topic in which you're interested. Previous threads will appear, and there is a wealth of information in previous threads.

I'm not trying to discourage you from asking questions, not at all. Questions are good. I just wanted to make you aware of the Search button. When I was a Newbie, it took me a while to find the Search function, and I found it ever so helpful.

If you can't find what you are looking for with the "search" function, you can always go to Google to ask the same question, and it will refer you a thread on TOTV.

I find searching thru Google, to be more effective in finding info.

I hope this helps you and others, as TOTV search engine, leaves a lot to be desired. IMHO

For furniture - we have bought several items from Kent Furniture in Bellview - just north of TV. We bought a couch and it was made in Ocala.

Nice selection and good pricing.

Welcome to The Villages!

Do you know about the Collier social group? They get together and do a lot of different activities. They send out e-mails letting you know when the get togethers are. Let me know if you need the contact info.

I bet some of those people can share information with you on who they used when first moving in the neighborhood.

I am not sure what to make of this posting. I had sent an email to Mr. Jimenez on November 21 and have never received an answer. I am not sure why he is making posts with an email address.
