Default CenturyLink/DTV bundle?

I have been trying to set up CenturyLink/DTV service for our move in early Feb. We are currently in a contract with DTV and my hubby, the sports nut, loves them.

Before looking at bundling, I called CenturyLink yesterday, they said I had to purchase or rent their modem. That my Mac AirPort modem would not work. $199 to purchase, $7.00 a month to rent added to my bill. Hmmmm....

I did not discuss bundling with them as they only wanted a 3pack with home phone. We are not interested in home phone. Have Magic Jack=very happy.

Then I called DTV today, they said they could bundle me with $10 off my DTV bill each month for 12 months, but I would have a separate account with CenturyLink. The $10 was to compensate for the inconvenience of two bills.

So when I hung up with DTV I called CenturyLink back and the guy today tells me that they will allow me to use my Mac modem, no problem. They can bundle the 2 services with a $5.00 a month discount forever. Both services on one bill.

Can this get more convoluted??

Each time I have called Centurylink they seem to have a problem figuring out if we have service available at our new address. It is in Gilchrist and I know others have said it is fiber optics to each home.

Is there a local CenturyLink office that I can call? Someone who knows the lay of the land and might give me some "apples to apples" information?

Thanks!

I think you will be south of 466A, right?

If yes, and you are going to unbundle DTV from CenturyLink, perhaps you should take a look at Brighthouse rather than CL. We are using Brighthouse and our Airport Extreme with no issues. Didn't seem to bother Brighthouse at all.

From my experience, You can turn off the wifi on any of the internet provider's modems and use your own. However you will have to handle your own wifi support.

I just set up Direct tv last week and am trying to bundle with century link, not sure what went wrong but they sent me a modem but set me up to start on January 22 rather than December 22nd. Waiting to hear from them today and may be changing to another internet provider by the end of the day.
