Default Which Social Clubs are Popular in TV?

Some social clubs are very popular and others are not. It depends on how the clubs are run. I just found out that Village Convertible Club is closing membership as the members topped over 600. They want to reduce to 500. It has one of the best web sight and one of the most active socials. Current members who do not renew by Dec. 31st will be dropped from membership. The two Dieter dance socials, Cocktail Dancers and Village Dance Clubs are already closed and so is Les Debonaire Dance group. Italian Paisan and Secondhoneymoon Clubs I believe are also closed and waiting lists only. What are your favorite social clubs? There used to be Le Francais Club which was popular but we haven't heard much about them anymore.

Based on my experience, many of the most popular clubs are those based on where you grew up, where you lived for a whole bunch of years, or where you call "home."

As a native St. Louisan, as well as a 45-or-so-year resident, I attend almost every St. Louis Club event. Many members also attend the Central States Cub - that's two parties every month!

But, I grew up in Boston and on Cape Cod, so I enjoy the Cape Cod & Islands Club!

When I first came to TV in early 2005, the biggest clubs were often those concentrating on one's Village or neighborhood. Membership in my local club has declined severely in the intervening years - no one's quite sure why - but we suspect that folks have found too many other interests!

If you check out Saturday's Mix supplement to the Daily Sun you'll also see many stories about gatherings of neighbors - a street, a villa complex, maybe several close-by streets. They always sound like fun people!

Oh geese, I hope they don't close that club before we get there.
