Default Soulmates

just saw a commercial about financial planning which believe it or not mentioned soulmates! so just to stir up some discussion i thought i would ask if posters believe they have met their soulmate at some point in their lives, or if they still hope to meet one, and can there be more than one? can a soulmate be someone with whom you are not romantically involved? what say you?

Yes I met my soul mate in High school. We will be celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary in March. I think that being friends with your soul mate is the answer to a long relationship. You need to treat your soul mate the way you would like to be treated.

Over a lifetime I have had several soulmates. The first one was in the second grade. Some of us experience one, others two or more. I have had and continue to enjoy friend soulmates as well as romantic soulmates.

Nope, I never had one. I think you can love somebody and feel all gooey, and call it a soulmate because it feels so good..the term doesn't have any other real meaning, does it?

I have had two dogs who were closer than a brother and whose souls if dogs have them were loyal and true.

I was lucky, I met my soulmate and we were together seven years. It wasn't feeling all gooey, that's just the lust part. It's accepting each other totally, being willing to share anything with that person. It's putting their happiness first and having that being reciprocated.

Steve and I were finishing each other's sentences the night we met. We had differences, but totally agreed on the important issues. We were both willing to walk through fire for each other. I knew almost from the beginning our relationship couldn't last. He wanted children and that was something I couldn't give him. Because of his grandfather's religious beliefs, whom Steve adored, adoption was out of the question. So, I cherished every second of those seven years, broke it off when it was time, stayed friends with him after. Went to his wedding and celebrated the happiness he and his bride would have, with both of us knowing that no other person could ever fill either of us the way we did.

Have more than one soulmate? I don't think so. Maybe be close but I just can't imagine having that kind of fulfillment, closeness and sense of completeness more than once in a lifetime.

I'm curious; What religious belief would deny adoption and why?

Orthodox Jew. Adoption within the family is acceptable but stranger adoption is not. Really never understood the reasoning but it is what it was. I would have had to convert to Judaism (not Orthodox, fortunately) but that was not an issue to me.

I am lucky enough to be married to mine. It is the easiest relationship I have ever had. No one on earth reads me like he does.

One of my sorority sisters found, lost and found hers again. They dated in college, but her father did not approve. They broke up. 20 years later, he got in touch. He had married and divorced. She had never married. They have been together ever since.

I've been with my soulmate for 16 years, and am so, so lucky to have what I consider 5 friend soulmates as well. Life is rich!

14 years and counting. Met online and fell madly in love, married 3 months later.

He makes me happy (oh and crazy at times).

He is my one and only soulmate.

I love my soul mate for who she is and how she loves and understands me. She is the one that makes me happy and I look forward to spending every day w her until we move out of this world. She is the shrimp in my scampi. The cherry on my sundae. Everything about her makes me feel complete. The best part of having a soul mate is knowing I will see her again on the other side. ..because our souls are connected.
