They announced today that even though Noah Lyles was diagnosed with Covid a couple of days ago, the USA kept it secret and he ran in the 200 meters final.
A couple of years ago, Novak Djokovic was banned from the USA and Australia. It wasn’t because he had Covid but it was because he hadn’t been vaccinated. Should an athlete who has Covid be allowed to participate in any event? Olympics, baseball, basketball, etc.? |

Probably shouldn't be around people if contagious.

He knew 3 days earlier. So he knew he was highly contagious. Yet he still decided that running was more important. Of course, he took minimal precautions to reduce the risk to others, right?
He deliberately kept his distance, adding space so that he stayed away from others - NOPE He never closely talked directly in front of another person - NOPE Things he contaminated were disposed of properly so they did not expose others - NOPE He disclosed the illness to all other people and (especially) athletes he might come in contact with - NOPE He did not hug or touch other athletes - NOPE He warned the medical staff so they could wear PPE - NOPE He warned the medical staff so they could avoid touching additional people after he was handled - NOPE That behavior gives me no hesitation from banning him for life, escort him out of the current olympic facilities, and a permanent ban from ever attending all future olympics. |
