While I really enjoyed watching the Masters today, I was taken back by their score keeping technology. The most prestigious and, possibly, the richest tournament in America was using scoreboard technology from the 1940’s at best. Having worked the Arnold Palmer for a few years and have seen that tournaments with large screen electronic updates, I was surprised to see the mechanical updates to the scoreboards at Augusta.
In spite of all that, I was really torn between seeing Justin Rose, or Rory win the tournament. What a display of what it means to be a gentleman. Of course, they both came from the UK. And this is from a true blue American, though I am not sure that my great grandfather was a legal immigrant.

Changing, would be akin to removing the manual Left Field Scoreboard at Fenway Park. One of the other traditions at The Masters, is that everyone who knows how it works, can usually tell what's going on by the various "roars" (or at least that's the theory). I had some friends covering the tournament for various social media sites and it's aggravating for them, as they can't use their cell phones to keep up to date with what's going on around the course. The Masters is a big, giant magical show, manipulated to maintain the mystique & aura.
