Default Should Brooks Koepka be on the Ryder Cup

Brooks Koepka won the PGA today and finished second in the Masters.

Should he play on the USA Ryder Cup team?

NO but watch $$$ does for hypocrisy. Seems like the PGA may have got their foot caught in a "mousetrap".

The PGA Tour has nothing to do with the PGA. They are separate and distinct organizations.

It will up to Zach Johnson, if he wants to use one of is Captain's picks to choose Koepka.

As Johnson has 6 "Captain's Picks", Koepka is likely to be one of them.

Then again, it's entirely possible that something "crazy" may happen with Koepka's relationship with LIV, which would make his Ryder Cup selection a sure thing.

Is the Cup PGA Tour event? Who decides? PGA Tour would probably not allow him.

Lets have a PGA v LIV Cup.
Both camps put up $10 million.
Winner takes all.

“PGA of America membership is a requirement to be eligible to participate on the U.S. Ryder Cup Team. Under the PGA of America membership rules there are classifications that currently allow LIV Tour members to retain their PGA of America membership status. PGA TOUR members are considered A3 classification. Because the LIV players paid their membership dues before June 30, 2022, they will retain their membership through the end of June 2023 and then through a grace period that runs through the end of June 2024. After that, under our current rules, they may apply for PGA’s Reserve Member classification. A3 members who resigned or are no longer PGA TOUR Members (suspended) are still PGA of America members.”

Therein lies the $$$ hypocrisy. You are out ---------- except.........

Default Ryder cup

I hope none of the LIV players play in the Ryder Cup. My opinion only.

I would like to see the best players in the world playing in the majors and the Ryder Cup. The US wants to win and not taking the best US player would make it more difficult to win.

Will Zalatoris is a great young player. He was PGA rookie of the year in 2020-2021. He did not go to LIV but stayed with the PGA. He has had some health problems and had back surgery last month and is now out for the season. He may come back as strong as ever but he may not.

One injury can end an athlete’s career. I can’t fault someone for taking millions of dollars that will set them up for life.

OP, my answer is yes Brooks should play and Bryson should be considered too. Professional golf tours should sit down and negotiate cooperative agreements and end the “rift” regarding the LIV. Will this happen? A good question. Competition is good and those that live in glass houses should avoid throwing stones. Ironically the LIV has done much to improve the purses for all the golf tours and their players.

Apparently you're a PGA of America member?

I just remembered (& checked to make sure my memory wasn't failing).

Paul Casey (a LIV Tour member) was granted a Special Exemption into the PGA Championship.

Casey's career obviously doesn't compare with Koepka's, nor is he even American.

It seems the PGA of America has already made its decision regarding LIV players.

Now it's up to Zach Johnson.

No I am not a PGA member but Sweeney is - tell it to him. The question was should Brooks Koepka be on the Ryder Cup? Not is he eligible. My answer to the OPs question is still "NO".

The PGA which include the PGA of America and the PGA Tour organizations have been nothing but hypocrites about players leaving to go to LIV since day one $$$. Why should they now get to profit from the very players they blackballed ?

Because of his PGA win yesterday, Koepka has vaulted to #2 in Ryder Cup points. He is also member of PGA of America, which runs the Cup, PGA Tour has nothing to do with it. He's pretty much a lock, doesn't need Zach to use captains pick.
