There are a few schools it looks like. 203 according to the rankings for men's soccer in Division I. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1

Back in the '80s I refereed SEC soccer games. Was a fan long before that, and have gone to Cup games. My son played semi-pro soccer until his second child was born. Most of the people I play golf with have more than a passing knowledge of, and are following the Cup.

Tal and others are correct about the real interest in soccer in the US.

I believe the vast majority of high schools and colleges in the USA have both men's and women's soccer teams.

I do see a number of women's college soccer teams.

Those are just the annual championship Div I womens teams - there are hundreds of other womens college teams.

I sure find these penalty shoot outs exciting. They must be nerve racking for the intense soccer fans and even more so for the players.

Costa Rica beat Greece yesterday in one of these. http://www.smh.com.au/fifa-world-cup...630-zsqge.html

I'm sure many schools do play soccer along with chess and field hockey. My point is that soccer hasn't arrived in the USA yet as a major sport. When have you drove up I 75 and observed all sorts of vehicles with flags cheering their Gators or Seminole soccer team for a upcoming game? Have you ever heard of a big Michigan-Ohio State soccer game on ESPN? How about an annual Army/Navy soccer game? Avid soccer fans want it to catch on and believe it has but I see nothing to support that.

Change takes time and commitment. There are more and more fans of soccer. And, the higher the US (men and women) get at this at subsequent World Cup standings, this should bring in more fans. By 2038, you would probably see the sights you describe driving up I-75.

Where are all the soccer fans watching the game tomorrow?

Anywhere I can find a TV after finishing golf - most likely the Mallory Hills bar if I can't get home in time.

Ann Coulter was right on about soccer in her column in Sunday's Daily Sun.

She's always good for showing how any brilliant lawyer can sell you almost any idea as long as you do not start using various Search Engines to check her "facts". She does have a serious gift in the art of BS.

Tal:

Score Tomorrow?

(104 today in Lakeport with 10% humidity - feels like 97)
(weather in June was great!)
