After the platelet donating disaster a few months back I did gather the courage to donate blood again and thought 12-14-2015 was just the right day to try it. Anna the phlebotomist was very efficient with the needle and got me done in a few minutes. Visited her before as well and was glad to have her help donating again.

I do have an appointment in a few weeks to donate platelets again at the Villages Donation Center and hope that it will also go well. And, I hope they have some newer movies too. I did finally watch George Clooney's The Descendants the movie I had been watching while feeling some pain from the needle which had gone through the vein while the blood leaking into my arm. One Blood attempted platelet donation. 10/08/2015 I looked like someone who had faced Rocky Balboa or Creed in a fight. At least my arm any way. It was bruised up quite bad for a month or so. Another phlebotomist stopped the donation process around October 8, 2015 when she saw that some of the equipment did not look like it was supposed to during the donation process. So, I only got to watch part of The Descendants. I am not sure why I did not scream bloody murder from the pain at the outset when the vein was pierced. I am just a very calm easy-going person most of the time.

I should have said something immediately but I am often a milquetoast in person not wanting to rock the boat. My internet personality is quite different from that non-confrontational one.

I finally have a platelet appointment for this Friday. I had to take a few weeks off. Get to start over now.

I hope it goes well.

Anna had initially had me set for double red blood cells-- and I would have got two Villages' movie tickets-- but the other phlebotomist said that the One Blood powers-that-be wanted to keep me donating platelets. So I do have about six appointments lined up every two weeks or so at the Villages Donor Center.

I used to donate double red cells when I was working. That way I only donated every 3 months. Much easier to get time off from work.

I don't know Anna, is she new?

No. She has been around for a long time. She is an attractive Hispanic lady. Maybe, she just does the blood mobiles now. I do not remember seeing her at the Villages Blood Center at least before it moved from its old spot near Cal's Barber Shop on US 441/27. She might have worked there in 2007-2008?

I donated my regular 3 units of platelets yesterday with no issues. I even watched the movie Southpaw. I also met Anna. She does work the mobiles, but is there getting supplies. I had seen her several times, just didn't know her name. The place was very empty yesterday. I wonder if other people had hit their limit for the year too.

Perhaps. I had about two months off as you know because of the vein through-and-through puncture on October 8, 2015.

I am set to go back in about ten days for platelets.

Southpaw was kind of depressing. I remember a phlebotomist Blanca at the Villages Blood Center talking about it as she would see it playing in her gym.
