Default Traveling with a Disability

This is a support group for people who have had polio and may or may not be experiencing the late effects of polio. We meet on the second Friday of each month from Oct. thru May at The Villages Clinical Laboratory building, second floor, 1 p.m.

We are an upbeat, type A, support group which attempts to educate you, your caregiver and your physican of the late effects of polio. We have a local physican (both in the Villages & Leesburg) which will evaluate you and recommend your special treatment(s).

Our May 11 meeting will feature 3 polio survivors sharing with us their experiences with and without a wheel chair on planes, trains and cruises. This meeting will begin with a complimentary lunch but reservations must be made by calling the number below.

For further information, please call Don or JoAn at 259-2051.

Default Traveling with a Disability

Hi,

There is an organization called SATH, Society for Accessible Travel and Hospitality, where individuals who have physical limitations (auditory, visual, physical, physically) can get information on travel resources.

There is also a list of travel agencies that will work with you so that you can travel to many places around the world.

I am a member of SATH, if you need more information, please email me.

Hi Pete,

Here is there website http://www.sath.org/ I am in the picture. If you want, when you go to the site and have the picture, I will try to explain to you where I am.

To send someone an email message, click on that person's name on the thread and you will see that there is a place to click on to send them an email.

Hope this helps you.

Default This topic deserves another BUMP !

I'd like to do some more traveling - maybe even some escorted tours. I guess if I lived in TV there would be more options for meeting-up with others with similar goals.

Ten years ago I injured my knees - torn meniscus - and have had chronic "bad back" issues for many years so my travel experience is limited to auto trips where I have control.

This topic gives me hope that there are others (like me) who have limitations but still want to travel
