Are e-text books the future?

I love my kindle. Can't write all over them and deface them. Much lighter to carry than a load of books. It certainly will be a thing of the future for the classrooms.

It makes a lot of sense. You can highlight text and take notes in Kindle, bookmark pages and look up words in the built-in dictionary. The larger Kindle was developed specifically for the text-book market.

It will be great for the kids not to have to carry all the heavy textbooks, and to be able to have all their books with them with ease. It will be great for parents' wallets not to have to buy expensive hardcover textbooks for every class. It will be interesting to see how e-readers evolve to attract this market.

My mother went to school and had real ink pens with ink in the desk. Now the Kindles. I am so glad I was born in this time. Just think how much space it will clear and how much easier it will be for students. My grandchildren carry a lot of heavy books right now.

But. I love the books I have on shelves in my library room.

Time marches on.
