Default The Killer Angels

Just finished reading "The Killer Angels" and it is excellent. It is a Civil War novel. Hard to put down! Author is Michael Schaara who also wrote "For Love of the Game".

I worked for a short period of time at the Gettysburg battlefield. That book was without a doubt, the biggest seller in the bookstore at the Visitor's Center. His son picked up after his father died and has written numerous historical novels (in the same style as Killer Angels) from the Revolutionary War up through WWII. Pretty good reading - not heavy, but keeps your interest.

There is a new book by Schaara called "The Last Full Measure" that I think is even better. Close view of the generals on both sides, and a bigger picture of the war. Fascinating.
