Default Book

Didn't anyone read "Senior Citizen" response??? Or is it better to believe fictional stories??

The copyright is 2012 by G.W. Coatoam.

I'd type the various chapters, which speak for themselves, however, do not want to violate this copyright.

She or he does state at the very beginning that the book is totally fictitious and simply a product of the author's imagination. Any resemblence to the Villages, Florida is strictly coincidental. It's a very long "explanation" of although the book is set in or near The Villages Florida, with residents aged 55 or older, the story is not intended to suggest that the actions are typical of the residents of THE VILLAGES.
The police department and fire department are fictitious as well as the Marion County Sheriff's office and the Mid Florida Regional Hospital and Trauma Center...........also fictional.

So, why bother? Just change the name of the town to a fictitious one, right?

As another poster mentioned, it is poorly written.

Fifty Shades of Grey was written by someone with a very different writing ability. At least with that "trilogy" I got through most of the second book, before it and the third book just fell by the wayside. All downloaded on my kindle.

So, much ado about nothing. Don't waste your money. I'm going to get my refund now. That's the great thing about amazon and the kindle.
If you download a book that just isn't good, you can get a quick refund and credit to your charge card.

I really do not think I could waste my time on this book.........but curious minds want to know. Now I know.

p.s. I also read Leisureville years ago........and did not find this book to be anything at all like that one.

Sure. There would be enough material here to make a good book or even a movie of some kind. It probably would be more of a G or PG one however as it seems to have a lot of very conservative Christian couples and/or singles who are more interested in playing and watching golf, playing with their grandkids, and staying healthy.

I kinda thought the book was fictional since it stated at the outset that it was. Imagine that. However usually these stories have some basis in truth even if they are fictional. As best I can tell there is a fair amount of this libidinous activity going on in The Villages, and a lot of people seem either to be defensive about it or they wear it on thier lapels as a badge of honor. Unquestionably the book was erotic, and it hardly is a literary giant, but it was refreshing to read about people my age who are still enjoying life and enjoying sex. If I struck a sour note with some of the residents I am truly sorry since I am a new comer to these forums.

Tal, Is a copyright granted to the author or to the owner of the manuscript?

There is a Gary Coatoam shown in Longwood, Florida who is 67 and one who is 41, in Sanford.
Tal is wrong. The copyright is granted to a non-fictional person who brings the book to the public domain and maintains ownership rights to the material even if he or she has not written the book, but has the permission of the actual author to publish the book. GW Coatoam did not write this book. The author of this book, who has written in other genres, is aclaimed but preferred to write under a pseudonym since this type of material would conflict with her other written works. She has first hand knowledge of many things in TV, but no more can be said than that. Obviously she is somewhat saddened that her work is being criticized so severely especially since she brought a great deal of information in the book to the residents of TV regarding STD's, mature relationships and in some instances the loneliness of a mature woman being alone.

By the way, GW Coatoam did not write about the "Civil War", his work is highly researched historical fiction, and there is some romance in his books, but no porn, soft or otherwise.

If you "kinda thought" the book was fictional, why did you ask the original question?

To bring attention to this book is why.

I would advise the good folks not to waste their money on it.

It's not a "bodice ripper" as Gracie imagined (the kind our teenaged daughters read in high school)......and it's not written with an erotic flair such as Anne Rice had with her later books.........I think it was just thrown together to make money for the author. You seem to know an awful lot about it.

I like Tal's comment that the majority of folks who want to retire to TV are just normal folks, not swingers. I'm paraphrasing.

Helllooo, do you even live here?

IMO, any "racy" book about TV would have to be fictional.

I think I know who the OP is, was, and is again.

You have heard of stirring the pot? What is another word for pot?

To those who don't know Tal's background, he has a doctorate in Library Science and attended law school as well. He is one smart cookie.

I just went to Amazon and ordered "From Sun Cities to The Villages: A History of Active Adult, Age-Restricted Communities" because I want the facts, not fiction.

Why the snarky responses? Sounds like it is fictional and therefore could be set anywhere, and not make it any more, or less beleivable than if it were set in TV. As to whether there are swingers in TV, I would say yes; why?Because I got a P.M. from one, for what it's worth (no I did not respond). Are there Christians in TV who are upright? - undoubtedly. Are there avowed Christians who like to fool around, who cheat? - probably. Are there atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Hindu, Maoists? - quite possibly. There are all kinds of folks here, frogs, snowbirds, snowflakes, and just plain flakes I would guess. I read Leisureville, and while I found it flawed, I enjoyed it because it was mostly factual and I learned a lot about TV and retirement communities in general. I won't read this book because I almost never read fiction, and it sounds like this one might not be stellar fiction. However, if you want to read it, or recommend it, or live it, that is your business, knock yourself out. If not, don't - simple.
