Sure. There would be enough material here to make a good book or even a movie of some kind. It probably would be more of a G or PG one however as it seems to have a lot of very conservative Christian couples and/or singles who are more interested in playing and watching golf, playing with their grandkids, and staying healthy.

I kinda thought the book was fictional since it stated at the outset that it was. Imagine that. However usually these stories have some basis in truth even if they are fictional. As best I can tell there is a fair amount of this libidinous activity going on in The Villages, and a lot of people seem either to be defensive about it or they wear it on thier lapels as a badge of honor. Unquestionably the book was erotic, and it hardly is a literary giant, but it was refreshing to read about people my age who are still enjoying life and enjoying sex. If I struck a sour note with some of the residents I am truly sorry since I am a new comer to these forums.

By the way, GW Coatoam did not write about the "Civil War", his work is highly researched historical fiction, and there is some romance in his books, but no porn, soft or otherwise. |

To bring attention to this book is why. I would advise the good folks not to waste their money on it. It's not a "bodice ripper" as Gracie imagined (the kind our teenaged daughters read in high school)......and it's not written with an erotic flair such as Anne Rice had with her later books.........I think it was just thrown together to make money for the author. You seem to know an awful lot about it. I like Tal's comment that the majority of folks who want to retire to TV are just normal folks, not swingers. I'm paraphrasing. |

IMO, any "racy" book about TV would have to be fictional.

I think I know who the OP is, was, and is again.

Patty Patty Patty. To those who don't know Tal's background, he has a doctorate in Library Science and attended law school as well. He is one smart cookie.

I just went to Amazon and ordered "From Sun Cities to The Villages: A History of Active Adult, Age-Restricted Communities" because I want the facts, not fiction.

Why the snarky responses? Sounds like it is fictional and therefore could be set anywhere, and not make it any more, or less beleivable than if it were set in TV. As to whether there are swingers in TV, I would say yes; why?Because I got a P.M. from one, for what it's worth (no I did not respond). Are there Christians in TV who are upright? - undoubtedly. Are there avowed Christians who like to fool around, who cheat? - probably. Are there atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Hindu, Maoists? - quite possibly. There are all kinds of folks here, frogs, snowbirds, snowflakes, and just plain flakes I would guess. I read Leisureville, and while I found it flawed, I enjoyed it because it was mostly factual and I learned a lot about TV and retirement communities in general. I won't read this book because I almost never read fiction, and it sounds like this one might not be stellar fiction. However, if you want to read it, or recommend it, or live it, that is your business, knock yourself out. If not, don't - simple.
