According to news reports, Hoffman was found in his bathroom with a syringe in his arm and bags of heroin nearby. Oh man. He was only 46 years old and has three children. He had gone through addiction treatment in May 2013.

Is it sad that another actor has lost his life to drugs or is it sad that despite a history of violence, death and destruction dating back before 1960 has done little to curb Americans appetites? Doesn't Hollywood's depiction of drug use as normal and its actors and actress hold up as ambassadors for more drug use. won't legalization of marijuana only add to this normalization. Where have all the clean cut law abiding drug free goal oriented people gone? They surely exist why can't they command time in the lime light? They can' because it ain't kool. Kool is being a bad boy or bad girl. It gets attention. Its edgy. Dying from drugs marks you as legendary ask Elvis , Kurt Corbain, Chris Farley, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger, Whitney Houston...................................

All I can say is Justin Bieber is on the same path. It is so hard to watch people in the public eye who are addicted.

They think it was heroin. He was found with the needle still in his arm.

Sorry but I could not care less. You take the garbage into your veins and you get what you deserve. He's right up there with the other losers like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.

Sad for the kids who are brought into this world and forced to live in this kind of lifestyle. I hope the kids didn't see dad this way.

Additionally, why do so many "Hollywood" folks have kids out of wedlock? Why do they even have kids? I know, not far to generalize, but there are sure alot of celebrity households where the two adults (and I use the term loosley) are not married yet have offspring.

So sad.

EXCELLENT commentary that I personally feel reflects the attitude of most adults.

Often wondered who's the drug dealer to the stars.
With their public life style it's not like they can just buy off the street

I'm totally disgusted by a Hollywood that glamorizes the seedy side of life. One can point to many examples of 'stars' whose excesses led to their deaths, pulling their children into the vortex. Having dealt with drug-addicted people in my career, I found to my surprise that kicking the habit is far more difficult than I naively imagined at first. Impossible for many. Shame, shame, shame Hollywood.
