Probably many protested when the Michael Moore movies weren't shown. Or were they?

Maybe the film is not 'banned' but the theaters do not have a contract with the independent film distributor to show their moview here. Just a thought.....
Thank you for this information, very helpful.

Hulababy... this was a general comment, not directed at you. We're on your side, trying to keep the posts on topic so that a lively discussion can continue in the main forum.

There is no place on Earth where you can always get everything that you want or think that you are entitled to. I don't know why some people think that only in The Villages is there a conspiracy to deprive us of the truth.

It’s no secret that developer Gary Morse (who owns the two theaters in TV) is a staunch supporter of the Republican party and he and his family are heavy contributors to that party and have hosted numerous Republican candidate rallies in TV.

2016 was produced, directed, and narrated by conservative commentator Dinesh D'Souza, a former Reagan staff member and author of such books as Obama's America: Unmaking the American Dream and The roots of Obama's Rage.

So if your suspicions proved to be correct, what motive would they have for suppressing this film in TV.

Trying to stay on track and not get political, might it be that the developer has been accused sometimes of suppression when it was purely a business decision based on the expected box office take of a film or contractual issues as 2catsmeow pointed out.

If the movie theatre can't get the movie than they should simply tell those requesting it "we can't get it" and that would put an end to all this speculation. The idea of censorship for our own good scares me to death and I certainly hope that isn't what is going on here. And please don't respond that the folks answering the phones don't know what is going one - they should make a point of finding out if there are that many calls coming in.

I would like to know the reel story.

Sounds like a contractual issue as twocatsmeow pointed out.

Default Contractual issues

Didn't know about contractual issues until we moved to Stratford ON, a city of 35,000 with one 6 screen movie theatre. We talked to the owner, who also sits in the box office and we asked him about a particular movie that we were interested in. He said that he would love to show it but he couldn't get it as it was not with the distributor that he was contracted with. So it could easily be a contractual issue with 2016. At least Ocala isn't so far. From Stratford, we have to drive an hour to get to another theatre, but when we get there, there are 3 other theatres and two of them get indies so there is lots of choice and lots of driving. Maybe we'll go to 2016 before we come down in case it doesn't get to TV.

I'm going to go down to Rialto tonight and see if I can speak to a manager. Maybe I can get some more info to keep us informed. With 80,000 plus we should not have to drive to orlando , gainsville or even ocala to see a movie!! We're the only theaters in the area.

Maybe you should have spoken to the manager before you started making accusations.

Hey, OP. I walked out on Ted twice! The first time was after the credits rolled and the second time after my uncontrolled laughter subsided or maybe it was when my depends dried out. Not exactly sure but the people you say walked out may have walked the same way.
