I did note that it was filmed in North Carolina. Very amusing exchanges between the three regulars and the owner of the restaurant in the movie.

Having passed through and stayed over night in Barstow a few times over the years, I would say it is not high on my list of places to which to return.

I have may have stayed there but did not find anything about it memorable.

Barstow is a crossroads town. I have driven through Barstow many times driving I-40/I-15. NM to CA and CA to NM. Back in the 1950s my parents drove us through Barstow on old Route 66 which ended at the pier in Santa Monica. Route 66 near Needles was hairy! I always stopped in Kingman, AZ for gas as it is cheaper in AZ.
