Default Does anyone remember The Giant Claw?

The Giant Claw is my favorite science fiction movie. In my opinion, it even ranked ahead of Them, which had my heroes Matt Dillon and Davy Crockett in it.

The Giant Claw is about a giant bird from outer space which comes from the North Pole and invades the U.S. and Canada. Our fighter planes attack it, but The Giant Claw gobbles them up. Just like the current invaders from China, it terrorizes everyone in the U.S.

As you can see in this preview, the special effects are first rate.

I’m surprised, Tal. Very good movie.

I absolutely remember that movie. It pops into my head every time I see any movie with a monster in it. The scene where they set up the cameras and it flies closer and closer until it is staring you in the face. Terrifying!! I was a kid when I saw it,

The special effects were, well, special.

I beg to differ. Them was much better. "Make me a sergeant in charge of the booze."

THEM came out when I was 9 years old and it scared the bejesus out of me, especially the whistling sound the ants would make just before they attacked.

The Giant Claw and Godzilla didn't scare me as much, maybe because I secretly wanted to be a big monster who could trash a big city. In case you wondered, No, I am not writing this message from prison.

It is amazing that you can quote your favorite line from a 70 year old movie!

Oh my, yes, Mr. Dillon -- my very first love -- from the very first day I saw him on that little black and white screen. Love at first sight.

I still watch him, as he is forever trapped in time, but now I get to see him on a 65 inch screen. Gotta love that intro scene. I just read that Mr. Dillon was shot 53 times (or was it 56?), stabbed 3 times, and poisoned once. (I don't know if the shootings counted the arrow that hit him a few weeks ago.)

I must now go find that movie you are talking about, although Fess Parker never did it for me. And besides — Matt’s hat was a whole lot better.

The Blob with Steve McQueen that scared me because you can’t kill it they only froze it. We are safe now because the government dumped the blob at the North Pole. Then again who knows (global warming)….wahahahaha.
