Basil for me. I think he matches the literary character the best, although the screen plays are far from the literature.
We recently watched a couple episodes of "Watson," boy that was a mistake! For those of you who've never seen it, The TV series "Watson" is a medical drama set in the modern day, focusing on Dr. John Watson as he leads a clinic for rare disorders, six months after the death of Sherlock Holmes. The show incorporates elements of mystery and investigation, with Watson using his keen observation skills to solve medical puzzles. |

I much prefer when the portrayal of Sherlock Holmes is like the literary profile, a brilliant man who uses seemingly extraordinary powers of observation to solve crimes. I do not care for the emotionally and socially challenged portrayal by Robert Downey Jr. I also care little for the autistic savant style portrayal of Benedict Cumberbatch.
As for the woke spinoffs and the Dr. Watson, M.E. ripoff of Quincy, I can do without those. I'll stick with the Lincoln Lawyer, thank you.
