Bonneville. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bonneville/ TOTVers-- especially female TOTVers-- should like this movie which is currently just out on DVD as well as playing at the Old Mill Playhouse (OMP). I saw it on DVD but it is worth the price of a movie ticket at the OMP IMHO.

Thanks, Tal -

I just ordered it from Netflix. Don't see how it could miss with such a great cast....

I saw it twice at the Rialto - once with hubby (who would see any movie with Kathy Bates) and again last week.
Two of my closest friends whom I've known since we were 7 years old (!) were visiting us for the first time in The Villages, and it was the perfect chick flick for the three of us. As most girlfriends, we can relate to road trips and the adventures along the way.
Kathy Bates is terrific, as is Christine Baranski. Worth the ticket price!

Tal,

Thank you.

Since I heard about Bonneville, I have been waiting for it to show up in a local theater. If it did, I must have missed it. I'm glad to know it's out on DVD. Kathy Bates is wonderful in anything.

And Mr. Boomer will be so glad it is on DVD because he will not have to run the risk of my trying to drag him to a chick flick.

Does anybody remember a television show called SCTV? Second City? This was way, way back in the days when SNL was funny. A very long time ago.

Anyway, if there was such a show (and I could be making all this up) there were these two big, rough guys doing movie reviews. The only thing upon which they based their review had to do with whether anything got "blowed up." And if anything got "blowed up real good," that was a movie that got the very best review.

And they always got way into talking to each other and getting all excited about the big scenes full of all kinds of explosions. They would relive those motion picture moments all full of dynamite and gunpowder and bombs. I think they made sound effects to go with their descriptions. It made them so happy to go to a movie where stuff "got blowed up real good."

Those two guys were hilarious.

Well, that's Mr. Boomer's idea of a really good movie. And to this day, he will ask me if I know if anything is going to "get blowed up real good" when I suggest a movie.

I hope someone here can tell me if I am remembering this right. Was it SCTV? As you can see, it made an impression.

Ah, the male of the species. . . :dontknow:

Thank you, Tal.

So I did remember it right. Well, sort of. And it was John Candy. No wonder it was funny. After I saw your post, I got sidetracked for a few minutes to track down a couple of things through Google. I found some of their Celebrity Blowups on video clips. Fun!
