Thumbs up Jack Reacher.

Jack Reacher - Rotten Tomatoes

Did not see Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher but he did a good job as a new version of Reacher from Lee Child's many Reacher books. If you can suspend disbelief or have not read and of these Lee Child books, you should like this as a crime thriller.

A really great and fun series.
But.....Reacher is like 6 ft 5, weighs in at around 250, and likes to crush bad guy's fingers when shaking hands.
Tom Cruise is an elf.
No way I can suspend THAT much belief.

I saw the movie and it's hard to suspend disbelief. I think if you never read the books it would be an enjoyable movie. My son liked it but he never read the books.

I frankly thought in addition to size, Tom Cruise was too old for the part.

I couldn't get past the disparity to thoroughly enjoy it but I didn't hate the movie.

Unless you know Tom Cruise's actual height, it was hard to tell how short he is in real life when compared with his appearance on screen. Except maybe with the scene where he stands beside Rosamund Pike, the actress who plays the defense lawyer.

According to Google, Tom is listed as 5'7" and 145 pounds. He may larger on screen but not a very big man. I know, he is the same height and weight as me.

They probably used a lot of tricks to make Tom Cruise appear a little bigger than 5' 7". This is a different Jack Reacher from the books, however, who blends in with the crowd rather than standing probably a head above it with the books' Reacher.

I would never cross off some actors' or actresses' movies as almost any film is the work of hundreds and sometimes thousands of people as with the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Jack Reacher though does look like something Mr. Cruise had a huge amount of input into the final product.

You are really missing something skipping Jamie Foxx's movies. Have to be a Tarantino fan to like Django Unchained but some of his other movies are quite good. Jamie Foxx - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just watched it on Netflix.

I liked the movie. IMO, Tom Cruise is at his best in that genre (Action Thriller).

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin would have been a better choice for the part. To me he is the Jack Reacher I envision when I read the books.
