Default OZ the Great and Powerful in 3D.

Oz the Great and Powerful - Rotten Tomatoes

This movie does look better in 3D. Entertaining but did not live up to my expectations. Having two nieces and two nephews that visited us over the years I have seen The Wizard of Oz many many times. Oz was a nice prequel but pales in comparison to the original.

I took my 11 year old niece to see this while we were visiting my Dad right after Easter. It was a good movie for her age, as she's not into the "little kid" movies any longer, and her parents won't let her see most PG-13 movies yet.

The photography and special effects were great. Some of the actors were good. James Franco was OK as Oz, but not great. On a scale of 1 to 4, I would give it 2.75 stars.

2.75-- That would be my rating too. James Franco is a little too serious an actor to pull off the con man kind of characterization needed. He was way too serious for the 2012 Oscars as well.

Agree with you about James Franco. He bombed as an Oscar host

Default Would have been a better movie...

Just heard a movie critic talking about "Iron Man 3". The producer's of "Oz The Great and Powerful" originally wanted Robert Downey Jr. to play Oz. Too bad that didn't happen as "Oz" would have been a much better movie with Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role...just my 2 cents.

Agree, Downey was probably way too busy.

Redbox sure is handy. OZ the Great and Powerful may lose some of its magic when you remove it from the big screen 3D setting unless you have a Blu Ray 3D player with a big screen at home.
