Default The American.

This is a slow moving character study rather than an action movie like I expected. Unless you are into art house movies or a big fan of George Clooney you might want to skip this one.

The Italian scenery was nice but nothing spectacular.

Has quite a bit of nudity too.

Think more along the lines of Clooney's Solaris rather than The Peacemaker.

One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. It even made Italy look dismal and ugly. Lots of nudity with a ridiculous story line.

Nudity??? George Clooney???? Sounds like it has some good qualities!!

There is no nude man like a nude man from Cincinnati! I know but will not give details.

Haven't seen it, but a bowling friend did and she echos the sentiments expressed about the movie. "Don't bother seeing it," was what she said to be specific.

I do not remember George Clooney being nude in it that much. The women of the Clooney character are another matter. Check out Solaris if you want to see Clooney nude. That also seems to be mainly his butt.

The two Italian hill towns-- Sulmona and Castel del Monte of Abruzzo-- are interesting. It seemed like you could see one from the other one. These could have been other Abruzzo towns though.

It is on my list. Once it hits the Blockbuster DVD rentals it will be shipped. Hopefully it is not Clooney that is nude.

There might be a little bit of Clooney nude. Cannot really remember though. There is a lot of female nudity in The American. Quite a bit more sex than violence gave this one its R rating.

Oh noooooooo! Skip this one, it was not worth the $$ of the ticket to see Georgie Boy. This was one of THE most boring movies I have ever seen. Four of us went to see this and all agreed.......Mr. Clooney is spending too much time on Lake Como (Italy)!

My husband and I saw this last night. Had trouble keeping awake. I only stayed to see if it would get any better at the end. Now if George was nude it might of helped but that wasn't the case.

Tal, thanks for the heads-up. I thought Clooney's "Solaris" was one of the most boring movies I had ever seen (not world class boring like "The English Patient", of course, but a complete waste of time). So your comparison to "Solaris" will keep me away. Thanks again.

It was very much an art house type film. I do try to see a number of these each year. If you like this type of movie, uujudy, check out Film Movement.

http://www.filmmovement.com/

Blockbuster usually gets most of these eventually and the Lake County Library System seems to have a subscription as the new ones show up on their online catalog within a month or so of their release to Film Movement members.

Thanks for the info, Tal! I'll definitely check it out, but I'm one of those old fogies that thinks it's a big deal to actually GO to the movies.

I like watching a movie on the big screen with a bag o' popcorn on my lap and other people in the room. (If I must speak during the movie, I whisper. My mama raised me right) I have been known to applaud at the end of a particularly good movie. Watching a movie at home (even with my bag o' popcorn) isn't the same as going out to a movie -- but I'll try your recommendations. Maybe this old dog can learn some new tricks.

....They would probably be in art house theaters though. I can think of one in the Tampa area and at least one in the Orlando area. They might show up near the U of Florida (Gainesville) as well.

I sat in two courses in Film Criticism at the U of Nevada taught by a film critic named Howard Rosenburg. Not the Howard Rosenberg TV Critic attached with LA. This Rosenberg in Nevada's. Weird that there are two men with the same name who are media critics. I got to see various Westerns and Sci/Fi films at what was at that time the MGM Grand Casino in Reno, Nevada.
