Default The movie 21 playing at the Rialto at Spanish Springs Square.

Enjoyed the new movie 21 playing at the Rialto Theater. Thought this would be really crowded but I guess the snowbirds I had been expecting there had already gone home for the Summer.

I sure paid close attention to the numbers in this one. :joke:

I grew up around casinos so I kind of had a close personal connection to this movie even if while living in Reno, Nevada hardly ever gambled even when I was old enough to do so.

Did catch some great rather inexpensive shows though like the one with BB King.

The book that the movie was taken from: Bringing Down the House was a good quick read.

We want to take in a movie tomorrow but this is the first I've heard of 21. I assume it's about blackjack? Will you give me a summary of the movie?

Brightspot, we saw it over the weekend and thought it was entertaining. Card counting, Vegas, higher education, and just the right amount of smut. Didn't get a great revue here but we enjoyed it. I'd say a "B" and worth seeing. Naturally, butter on the popcorn.

Thank you IR....sounds interesting and one my husband would surely enjoy.

Will pass on the butter (to my dismay)... op:...ate too many crabcakes last night so have to watch the calories the next few days.

Summary of the movie 21 without spoilers-- MIT student needs money to pay the tuition for Harvard Medical School-- $300,000 +-- so a math professor takes advantage of him and recruits him into his team. The team counts cards at blackjack in Vegas casinos. They succeed at various casinos and attract the attention of a casino security man who tries to put a stop to their card counting.

Found 21 one of the most entertaining movies playing in the Villages theaters at this time.

I saw it Sunday evening in TV and it gets a thumbs up. It was a good mix of good kid goes bad, learns lesson, uses it to his advantage, as a base story, with lots of intrigue as to living on the edge with a surprise twist. The buttered popcorn made it even better!
