Cool Happy Birthday Jack Nicholson this April 22, 2024.

What is your favorite Jack Nicholson movie and/role?

Chinatown is probably mine with respect to role and movie.

Too many with him but akin to your favorite movie thread...One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest for me...

I really miss his trolling court side during Celtics/Lakers Finals!

For years I thought "Chinatown" was his best work. Watched it again last night and wondered why. He was great, but the movie was boring. Funny how our tastes change over time. Complicated murder mysteries just seem tedious these days, unless they blow up entire cities, have a car chase every 5 minutes, and everybody but the hero is dead by the end of it. I didn't realize my own tastes had become so jaded. Faye Dunnaway wasn't even as hot as I remembered.

Now I think I'll skip a rewatch of Cuckoo. I'd like to keep on remembering it the way I remember it.

Jack grew up in next town over in NJ. Don’t hear about him lately and kinda secretive of his current lifestyle.

Although not mine, I'm surprised 'The Shining' escaped this thread.

Other than Celtics games vs Lakers, I got to see him in person during filming of Witches of Eastwick on the South Shore of Boston in '87. The man definitely had a presence

if you mean the postman always rings twice that was John Garfield and Lana Turner heating up the screen in one of the best noir movies of all time , FYI you can see favorite film noir movie specials on TCM every Saturday night at 12 o’clock and replayed at 10am with a talk about the film with host aEddie Muller

And who can forget the great line by jack in that movie as he wields that axe “Here’s Johnny “
